After a crazy two weeks, we are trying to get back to our regular posting schedule. The first step is to finally post Volume 2 of Behind the Seen, our weekly list of things that have inspired us and piqued our interest throughout the week.

Nick:

  • I hate Apple for having so much control over me. I hate how every time they release something I end up wanting it. Badly. I also never thought that one of the biggest selling points for me would be the ability to run Windows on my Mac. But hey, I do like to have options. If it wasn't for the rumours of overheating I would probably have already bought one. In the meantime, anyone want to buy a 14" iBook G4? Make me an offer.
  • Excellent journalism and always engaging content. Frontline on PBS is tough to beat. Oh and by the way, they also put all of their content on-line for free viewing. Talk about progressive. Major networks could learn a thing or two from little old public broadcasting.
  • If you're like me and you listen to every minute of director commentary, read every interview, and are just interested in the process of creating a film, then these two podcasts should be right up your alley. The first is a collection of audio from the NPR program The Treatment with Elvis Mitchell. The second is a podcast from Creative Screenwriting Magazine. Both are top notch.
  • Collected Quotes from Albert EinsteinI'm not usually a quote man, but for Einstein I can make an exception. My personal favorite:

The only thing that interferes with my learning is my education.

Zack:

  • I'd suggest getting a hold of these recently released albums:

    • Snow Patrol - Eyes Open
    • Murder By Death - In Bocca Al Lupo
    • The Sound of Animals Fighting - Lover, the Lord Has Left Us...

  • Say Anything - I went and saw Max Bemis and band in Buffalo a little while ago. Amazing live show.
  • The more I hear/read/look at the YUI Library, the more intrigued I get. I'm not a big Yahoo fan, but those libraries are very inspirational.
  • I've also been checking out more and more of JQuery. 15 Days of JQuery is a good place to start for anyone looking to get into it.
  • To go along with Nick's Einstein quotes, here's one that I've always loved from Douglas Everett:

The mark of a well educated person is not necessarily in knowing all the answers, but in knowing where to find them.

  • Or some Simpsons quotes for everyday usage.
  • Shaun Inman's "Responsible Asynchronous Scripting" article - I think Shaun hit the nail on the head with this article. I've been saying something very similar for a long time. Shaun's just a better writer than I am.

That does it for this week. If anyone has anything they would like to share, post a comment. And hopefully the time between Volume 2 and 3 will be much shorter than the time between Volume 1 and 2.
