As you can see (unless you are reading this through an RSS reader, in which case, you might want to load up the site), we have launched the new version of our site and our blog. Our main goals with this redesign were to integrate our blog and our company site more effectively, consolidate some of the information on our company site, and to open up our blog to allow for more variation in content type.

New URL's

The first thing you may notice is the new URL structure. As mentioned in my previous post, our main domain is now weareseencreative.com. To access just the blog, you can go to weareseencreative.com/blog.

Article Types

Secondly, on the blog we have a couple of new features that we hope will allow us to add more diverse content. The standard blog format tends to be a little restrictive with its blog "post" formula, so we built a system that allows us to add traditional blog articles along with short blurbs in between longer articles (this is similar to kottke's short articles and daring fireball's links). This should keep content flowing in more regularly as well.

Both the short blurbs and The List items will not show up in the main RSS feed, so to get the full scope of content, you will have to check in on the site every once in a while (I know, how 2005).

We also attempted to "flatten" the blog so to speak to allow older posts to be brought up to the top. After each article we will show related articles. Articles can also be pinned as "Featured" and articles that have been recently commented on show up under "Popular Articles." We hope this is at least a step in the right direction towards making this blog less dependent on date, and more focused on the quality of the content.

The List

We also have a section called "The List" which is just a basic thumbs-up or thumbs-down type list of random things we think are cool or not so cool. The goal of the latter was to throw a little personality into the mix instead of talking about the same topics ad nauseum.

In conclusion, we are pretty excited about this launch and we hope it will help the blog expand as we move forward. Right now there are still a few bugs to be worked out, so as always let us know if you see anything strange.
