Think the same people who did the motion graphics for the Last Kiss trailer did the motion graphics for the Stranger Than Fiction trailer? Maybe not, but they both seem to have a similar style (i.e. Ugly).

Suck On That
By Nick Adams on 10.24.06
A couple of Swiss designers (the blog says German, but the consensus seems to be that they're Swiss) have made some pretty innovative items using everyday objects. They range from genius, to completely ridiculous, but all of them are insanely clever.
I love things like this. It just shows how much you can extract from seemingly mundane objects and how the function of something can be total... Read More
Behind the Seen: Vol. 4
By Nick Adams on 10.20.06
It's been awhile since Vol. 3, but here are some things I've been reading, watching, enjoying, etc, for the past week or so. Yep, just me this time. Zack can't post, too busy making us money.
The Tipping Point of Malcolm Gladwell
There is in effect a reverse Tipping Point, the point when we're just, like, so over it. Has Gladwell reached this point? This NY Observer article also asks w... Read More
The Best Laid Plans
By Nick Adams on 10.11.06
There are a million examples of people in careers they never planned on or went to school for. It might even be the more common situation. This is especially evident in the creative fields. How many designers do you know with a psychology degree? Probably a few. I wonder why this is so often the case. Is it because school is a false representation of life in industry? Does it do far too little ... Read More
Blogosphere Talking Points
By Nick Adams on 10.09.06
Note: I am not going to talk about the Google purchase of YouTube.
We are so predictable. If Edgar Cayce had an Internet connection he wouldn't need to rely on that creepy trance-like state he so perfected. Because lets face it, trances make you look about as cool as does riding a Segway.
But seriously, what makes us so predictable? I'll tell you. It's the fact that, as mini-experts, we... Read More
Strange Coincidence
By Nick Adams on 10.03.06
A few weeks ago we were having some trouble with comment spam here on the blog. Wordpress was catching about 15 spam comments per day and holding them in the comment moderation queue. But a handful more were squeaking through and showing up on the live site. I was starting to get annoyed with the task of moderating comments, so I installed Akismet.
Overall, a very easy process. Although the ... Read More
The Daily Grind

This clever and well designed wall clock is very cool (even though I would never spend 100 dollars on a freakin' clock).
It's funny to realize though, that while working for someone else I remember the hand moving towards the 5 in super slow-motion. But now, while working for myself, the hand approaches the 5 all too quickly. That clock has taken on a very different meaning over the past yea... Read More

What A Concept
By Nick Adams on 09.05.06
After taking a look at these concepts maps designed by DDO, I was a little conflicted. Are they visually appealing? I think so. Are they well designed? I'd have a hard time saying yes to this, at least based on my idea of design.
See, these concept maps were created in order to answer a series of questions (the original article lists the questions) through a visual representation of its pro... Read More
